Vegetable Kottu

Galle International Stadium
Overall Score (/50):
44
For the uninitiated, kottu is a Sri Lankan dish of shredded roti stir fried with vegetables, eggs, spices, and (if you’re that way inclined) meat. It’s a real highlight in a nation bursting with incredible dishes and you should try it at the earliest available opportunity if you haven’t already done so. The version available at Galle is cheap, hefty, and very tasty. Sure, it’s not as good as the takes on kottu you’ll find in restaurants, but it’s a vast improvement on most stadiums’ interpretations of local staples. This is a far cry from the deeply disappointing portions of fish & chips, inedible burgers, and undercooked pies you’re likely accustomed to. Sat in the shadow of the fort watching a Test unfold while you dig in to a local delicacy, you’ll never want to leave.
